The 9th of Muharram is significant as the Prophet (PBUH) expressed his intention to fast on this day along with the 10th to distinguish Muslim fasting from others. It is a day of preparation for Ashura. In Denpasar, special gatherings begin to commemorate the eve of the tragedy and recall the sufferings of the Ahl al-Bayt.
حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ
"Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs."
