Introduction to Eid-ul-Fitr
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. It falls on the 1st of Shawwal. It is a day of gratitude, joy, and reward for the believers who spent the month of Ramadan in fasting and worship. It is also known as "The Day of Prize" (Yawm al-Jaiza).
Fitrana (Zakat-ul-Fitr)
Before the Eid prayer, it is mandatory for every Muslim (who has the means) to pay Zakat-ul-Fitr. This charity purifies the fasts from any indecent act or speech and helps the poor join in the festivities.
Sunnahs of Eid Day
The Prophet (PBUH) taught us to wake up early, perform Ghusl (bath), wear one's best clothes, apply perfume (for men), and eat something sweet (odd number of dates) before going to the prayer ground. It is also Sunnah to go to the prayer via one route and return via another.
